In the automotive sector, regulatory and technological developments are imposing increasingly complex challenges on friction material manufacturers. One of the most significant of these concerns the reduction of particulate emissions generated during braking, a key factor in compliance with the standards set for Euro 7 engines.
In this context, Intercom Chemicals is carrying out a research project dedicated to the development of formulations capable of making a concrete contribution to the reduction of PM10 particles. This is an issue of great interest to the world's leading players in the sector, requiring advanced expertise, continuous experimentation and materials with increasingly controlled performance.
The project was conceived in our laboratories, where dialogue with customers, listening to market needs and innovation capabilities come together. Thanks to Intercom's extensive experience in the friction sector and the properties of our TechPhen® phenolic resins, already recognised for their thermal stability, resistance and consistent performance, new formulations have been identified and are currently being tested in collaboration with selected partners.
The initial results from the preliminary tests are very encouraging and indicate the possibility of achieving a significant reduction in the particles generated during braking, confirming the validity of the path we have taken: to develop new-generation materials that combine efficiency, safety and lower environmental impact.
This work is part of Intercom Chemicals' broader commitment to continuous innovation: from TechPhen® resins to TechBrake® additives, our approach is geared towards stable, customisable and high-performance formulations designed to support brake pad manufacturers in a rapidly changing global market.
Testing and optimisation activities will continue over the coming months, with the aim of sharing concrete results and new application solutions as soon as they become available.
